CHILDREN'S DIVISION
Creative Movement Ages 3-4

A curriculum designed for young dancers that develops and encourages creative movement, nonverbal self expression, imagination, rhythm, musicality, body awareness and self-esteem. This class suggests a once a week attendance but those wish to take twice a week may do so for additional tuition.

Pre-Ballet
Ages 5 - 6

A continuation of Creative Movement for young school-age dancers that also introduces ballet positions, movement, and terminology. This class suggests a once a week attendance but those wishing to take twice a week may do so for additional tuition.

PRE-PROFESSIONAL DIVISION

Level 1
Ages 7 - 8

Introduces dancers to a formal Ballet education of ballet positions, movements, placement of the torso, legs, feet, arms, head, and ballet terminology. Coordination of steps is introduced along with proper Ballet etiquette in class. Suggested number of classes per week 1 technique but those wishing to take twice a week may do so for additional tuition.

Boys Class
Ages 8 - 12

This is a class designed for boys only to study the art of Ballet and dance. Just like the girls classes the same syllabus and study of ballet is introduced but in a manner that appeals to boys, such as male movements and strength building exercises. Suggested number of classes per week 1- one and a quarter hour class technique.

Level 2
Ages 9 - 10

LEVEL II (Generally ages 9-10) A continuation of Level I with a further study of ballet positions, movements, placement of the torso, legs, feet, arms, head, and ballet terminology. Students work on strengthening their technique, placement, coordination, and endurance. Classes at this level are one and one half hours each. Suggested number of classes per week 2 - one and one half hour technique classes.

Level 3
Ages 11-12

A continuation of Level II that introduces further ballet terminology, increased frequency of previous and new technique, ballet positions, placement of the torso, legs, feet, arms, strength, coordination, and endurance. Dancers in this level begin pre-pointe to develop the strength of the legs and feet to prepare them for pointe work in Level IV. Students will be suggested to wear pre-pointe shoes and work on demi pointe once a week in their pre-pointe class. Suggested number of classes per week 3- one and a half hour technique classes plus an hour pre-pointe class a week.

Level 4
Ages 12-14

A continuation of Level III that introduces the study of intermediate ballet terminology which involves strengthening the students technique, stability, and coordination of the entire body to obtain a fluid movement while executing combinations of steps. Students in this level begin the study of pointe work. Required number of classes per week 4- one and one half hour technique classes plus an hour pointe class a week.

Level 5
Ages 14-18
A continuation of Level IV that introduces the study of advanced ballet terminology. This period of study involves strengthening the students stability in various turns, adagio, beats, small and large jumps, and the ability for female students to perform the exercises on pointe for an entire technique and /or pointe class. Males learn the ability to do so on demi pointe and learn the art of multiple turns, as well as multiple beats, small and large male jumps. The art of Pas de duex is also introduced in this level. Suggested number of classes per week. 5- one and one half hour technique classes plus an hour pointe class for females a week.

OTHER CLASSSES OFFERED AT EVANSVILLE DANCE THEATRE

OPEN JAZZ ( Levels 3 - Adult) The art of classical jazz is taught to those in Level III – Adult.

ADAPTIVE DANCE - This class is geared to those with physical needs such as Downs, but not limited Downs. Students will learn the art of dance while giving them the chance to gain more flexibility, strength, self expression, musicality, and self-esteem. Students in this class will meet for an hour class once a week. Call for class day and times

HOME SCHOOL DANCE – This class is geared to home schooler who would like to meet during the school day to learn the art of dance and to full fill their PE requirement. Please contact the office if you are interested.

ADULT DIVISION

This division is open to teens and adults. Beginning and Intermediate classes are available on a continuing basis in both Ballet, Jazz and soon to come Ballroom.
