Christine Lovasz-Kaiser

Christine has received classical ballet and jazz training since 1974. She started taking ballet classes at the age of 5 in Levittown, New York and then moved to Norman, Oklahoma where she attended the Norman Dance Theatre. While training with Norman Dance Theatre, Christine also took classes with Oklahoma University Ballet and appeared in their "Coppelia" choreographed by Miguel Terekhov. As a teenager she was accepted to attend the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute where she took classes from Georgina Parkinson (American Ballet Theatre), Irina Baronova (formerly with Ballet Russe), and Hilary Cartwright (formerly with London’s Royal Ballet). In addition to attending Oklahoma University and performing with their ballet company, Christine began to teach ballet and jazz classes for Norman Dance Theatre as well as for Norman Parks and Recreation.

Christine continued to take classes and teach while living in Hawaii and then eventually arrived in Colorado Springs, Colorado. There she was a founding member of Jazzworks West Dance Company (now Ormao Dance Company). With Jazzworks, Christine not only taught classes and performed but she was able to begin choreographing contemporary ballet pieces for the company. She reveled in the chance to choreograph ballet pieces to such various music styles as classical, Phil Collins, and even country music. While in Colorado, Christine also performed two seasons with Paul Fiorino’s Dance In Flight Ballet Company in their touring "Nutcracker". In the late 1990s she took time off from dance to pursue her MA in archaeology from Boston University. She returned to dance in 2004 when she began taking classes, performing, and teaching classes for EDT.
